Temporary Experts Social Enterprise Ltd. (TE) was founded to address a simple but urgent problem: there are thousands of highly skilled people in Nova Scotia who cannot commit to a traditional 9–5 job, and thousands of employers who need flexible, short-term expertise. TE exists to bridge that gap, creating a platform where compassion, flexibility, and skill meet.
Our Mission
To create an online platform that easily matches skilled workers who have challenges committing to a 9–5 work schedule with compassionate employers who need temporary workers. We exist to build communities of inclusion, empowerment, and purpose—especially for the chronically ill and underemployed.
Why This Matters
For people who are chronically ill or underemployed, traditional employment models can be inaccessible and damaging to mental health. A chronic diagnosis often strips away more than income—it takes away positive self-image, social belonging, and the dignity of being useful. Many people managing conditions such as Parkinson’s, migraine, MS, cancer, anxiety, or long COVID are capable of outstanding work—but cannot commit to rigid hours.
Temporary Experts offers a way forward: project-based and flexible work that fits within real life boundaries. This isn’t just about employment—it’s about mental health, inclusion, and empowerment. Our platform allows people to contribute meaningfully, connect with others, and regain purpose while earning income on terms that respect their limitations.
The Problems We’re Solving
- Hidden talent pool: Educated, capable individuals who can’t take on 9–5 roles but want to use their skills.
- Mental health strain: Chronic illness and underemployment can lead to isolation, loss of purpose, and financial instability.
- Employer need: Businesses often don’t need a full-time employee but do need an experienced professional who can hit the ground running.
Our Solutions
- An inclusive online platform dedicated to connecting compassionate employers with skilled people who need flexible schedules.
- Opportunities for gainful, dignified employment that fit within time limitations and personal boundaries.
- Access to experienced professionals who can deliver results quickly—even when businesses only need part-time or project support.
Who We Serve
- Chronically ill individuals seeking purpose, dignity, and income without risking their health.
- Caregivers and stay-at-home parents balancing family responsibilities with the desire to stay engaged professionally.
- Semi-retired and underemployed workers who want to remain active and share their expertise.
- Compassionate employers looking for reliable experts who can handle projects without long onboarding or hand-holding.
Company Background
Temporary Experts (TE) was founded in 2024 by Jennifer Vey, a graduate of Acadia University who has personally experienced chronic illness, underemployment, and motherhood. Jennifer’s lived experience—bedridden for years while raising children and caring for an aging parent—gave her unique insight into the challenges of being highly capable but unable to work full-time. Today, her vision is to create a platform that allows people like herself to thrive within their boundaries, instead of being defined by them.

Why Nova Scotia?
Nova Scotia has one of the highest rates of chronic conditions in Canada, with more than two-thirds of residents aged 12 and over reporting a chronic condition. At the same time, small businesses and community organizations across the province struggle to access skilled short-term help. TE addresses both needs—unlocking hidden talent while supporting employers and strengthening the local economy.
Looking Ahead
Launching first in Nova Scotia, TE will expand to Atlantic Canada and beyond, scaling our social impact while staying rooted in community values. By targeting a share of Canada’s $15 billion temporary staffing industry, TE is positioned to grow sustainably while ensuring that the people who need support most are never left behind.
